Selected magistrate judge in San Francisco, announced February 5, 2018. Hixson has worked for Morgan, Lewis & Bockius 2014-2018, and previously Bingham McCutchen LLP and McCutchen, Doyle, Brown & Enersen LLP. He clerked for 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge A. Wallace Tashima. Over 20 years, he's tried complex litigation matters in federal and state courts ranging from antitrust and unfair competition cases to energy regulation, water management, telecommunications and intellectual property matters. At Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Hixson is a partner working on intellectual property matters, focusing on federal computer software-related cases. From 2009 to 2010, Hixson chaired the California State Bar's Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section. His pro bono work includes serving as counsel for the California Public Utilities Commission and tenants facing eviction via the San Francisco Superior Court's Housing Negotiation Project.
