Bigger isn't always better

The loss of a major client in 1995 led Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman to trim its ranks from 70 to 12 lawyers. But the firm's lawyers say shrinking operations helped them gain independence and diversify their client base.

BEVERLY HILLS - Seventeen years ago, Rosenfeld, Meyer & Susman LLP had more than 70 lawyers. The Beverly Hills firm, founded in 1957, spent years growing while representing MCA Inc. and all of its talent. Clients over the years included Groucho Marx, Jack Benny, Marlon Brando and Gregory Peck.
