Priest Pleads Not Guilty to Abuse
LOS ANGELES - A Catholic priest pleaded not guilty at a court arraignment Thursday to charges of sexually abusing three teenage boys. Speaking through an interpreter, Father Fernando Lopez, the former assistant pastor at St. Thomas the Apostle in Koreatown, told Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Melissa N. Widdifield he is innocent of eight felony and misdemeanor counts, including lewd acts upon a child, sexual battery, child molestation and forcible sexual battery.
