Bay Area Utility Braces for Suits After Blackout

SAN FRANCISCO - Consider the fact that San Francisco's estimated economic output each month is $2.5 billion, or $60 million a day. Then consider all the hours the Bay area went without power Tuesday - along with the number of homes and businesses left in the dark - and the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. could be facing several millions of dollars in liability, according to one outside observer.
