Fight Over Attorney Fees Is Brewing in Light of Proposed Tobacco Deal
SACRAMENTO - A major fight is brewing in California over fees paid to lawyers under the proposed national settlement of tobacco lawsuits, with plaintiffs' attorneys complaining the deal brokered by Attorney General Dan Lungren bars them from billing tobacco companies for fees that easily could top $1 billion.
