Senate, in Final Push, Approves 17 New Judges
WASHINGTON - In one of its final acts before adjourning for the year, the U.S. Senate Wednesday confirmed Los Angeles U.S. Attorney Nora Manella, Orange County Superior Court Judge David O. Carter and San Diego Superior Court Judge Thomas J. Whelan to seats on the federal bench. The Senate did not act, however, on the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals nominations of Los Angeles U.S. District Judge Richard Paez, and three other California judicial nominees never made it out of the Senate
