Court Broadens Public Access to Court Hearings

SAN FRANCISCO - In a strong assertion of public access rights to court proceedings, a federal appeals court ruled Monday that sealed transcripts of closed hearings in the prosecution of a public official must be opened when the reason for secrecy ends.
