Jury Absolves Edison of Liability For Brushfire in Ventura County

SANTA BARBARA - A jury here on Wednesday found that although Southern California Edison was negligent for improper maintenance of power lines on a Ventura County oil lease, the company's negligence did not cause a 1996 brushfire in Ventura County that ravaged 11,000 acres of grasslands and avocado orchards.
