Brown appoints two more judges to the bench

Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday announced the appointment of two people to judgeships in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Gov. Jerry Brown on Wednesday announced the appointment of two new judges in Alameda and Contra Costa counties.


Brown appointed Charles A. Smiley III, 44, to the Alameda County Superior Court. Smiley has been a commissioner since 2007. Before that, he served as a deputy public defender for the Alameda County Public Defender's office from 1997 to 2007.
