Judge orders discovery into racial makeup of Orange County federal jury pool

A federal judge has ruled that Central District court officials must provide discovery about whether Hispanics are underrepresented on federal juries in Orange County.

SANTA ANA - A federal judge has ruled that Central District court officials must provide discovery about whether Hispanics are underrepresented on federal juries in Orange County.


The defense attorney for an accused gang member asserts that Hispanics make up 30 percent of adults in the county but less than 15 percent of potential jurors in the court's Southern Division.
