Judge Fled Social Injustice to Follow His Dream

RICHMOND - By his own admission, Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Barry Baskin is the embodiment of the American dream. In 1980, at age 27, Baskin was managing partner of his family's law firm in South Africa, with a wife and three children, when he made a difficult decision: His country's repugnant apartheid policies left him no choice but to leave his homeland.
