PD Switch Takes Place in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO - Instead of passing the torch to his hand-picked successor and facilitating a smooth transition for an office known for its lack of political turmoil, Jeff Brown on Thursday handed the mantle of the San Francisco Public Defender's Office to Kimiko Burton-Cruz, chosen by Mayor Willie Brown to run the office until the post comes up for election in two years.
