Attorney General-Designate's Record Demonstrates Unfitness

It is troubling that some are suggesting that John Ashcroft's nomination to be attorney general cannot be defeated unless some "smoking gun" is uncovered. The information that should lead to his rejection by the Senate is his record, which shows that he has not earned America's confidence that he will uphold, defend and advance civil rights, reproductive rights and environmental protection.
