Hogan & Hartson: CIENA LAYS OUT $2.6 BILLION FOR PRIVATELY HELD CYRAS
Telecommunications equipment maker Ciena Corp. is purchasing Cyras Systems Inc. for $2.6 billion, comprised stock and debt assumption. Ciena, based in Linthicum, Md., makes multiplexing systems that increase the capacity of long-distance fiber-optic telecommunications networks. Customers include Sprint, Bell Atlantic and WorldCom.
