State Bar considers selling SF building, moving from city

The State Bar is exploring whether to sell its San Francisco headquarters building in the suddenly high-priced South of Market neighborhood. If if did, the bar might move to Sacramento.

SAN DIEGO - The California Bar has listed its headquarters for sale, hoping to capitalize on the hot real estate market in San Francisco's South of Market district.


The bar paid $22 million in 1999 for 13-story, 200,000 square-foot building at 180 Howard St. The value of the building is now "well north of $100 million," according to one real estate website.
