Push for LA jail oversight gets a boost

Taken together, a recent acquittal of a witness and a hearing today before a county commission could give attorneys new traction in a federal case over conditions in the jails.

LOS ANGELES - The groundswell of witness testimony about alleged abuse in the county's jails by sheriff's deputies could see a boost in credibility this week, as a federal judge continues to weigh whether more oversight is needed in the nation's largest jail system.
