Criticism Leads Senate Panel to Trim State Bar Surcharge
A plan to extend a controversial surcharge on State Bar dues was rejected Tuesday by the state Senate Judiciary Committee.

SACRAMENTO - The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Tuesday to roll back a controversial $10-a-year dues assessment for a building fund, but approved an identical $10 annual surcharge for technology improvements, actions that would leave yearly State Bar dues at $400 if approved by the full Legislature.
