Supreme Court Limits Patent Holders' Reach on Royalty Payments
Rejecting a patent holder's bid to collect multiple rounds of royalties, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously Monday that a South Korean electronics company could not license a portfolio of patents to chip-maker Intel Corp. and then bring patent-infringement claims against downstream computer manufacturers that purchased Intel's products.
