Governor Is Trying to Block Suits, Labor Lawyers Charge

LOS ANGELES - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's proposal to relax workers' rights to meal and rest breaks is a backdoor attempt to block litigation like the multimillion-dollar suits pending against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc., labor lawyers charged last week.
