Pro-defendant rulings out of the 5th District catch high court's eye

The state high court has depublished one opinion out of the court, and its mulling depublishing a second.

The 5th District Court of Appeal can hardly be considered a liberal bastion, but two pro-defendant rulings out of the court have caught the attention of the state Supreme Court.


Last month, the state high court ordered depublished a mammoth, 84-page opinion from the Fresno-based court granting defendant Michael Pizarro a new trial in the murder of his 13-year-old sister.
