Case filings fell in trial courts across the state last year, according to a judicial branch report released Tuesday. Total superior court filings dropped to 8.5 million in fiscal 2011-12 from 9.4 million a year earlier, due mostly to a reduction in limited jurisdiction cases, such as limited civil suits and misdemeanors and infractions. Limited civil cases are those worth less than $25,000.
