Foundation recognizes 'builders of peace'

The Western Justice Center Foundation hosted an honorees' luncheon at its Pasadena headquarters to recognize the winners of its 2013 Builder of Peace Award. The award recognizes a commitment to the pursuit of a more peaceful society among three categories of honorees: individuals, law firms and corporations. Terrence J. Roberts, a civil rights pioneer and member of the Little Rock Nine —nine children who in 1957 became the first black students to attend all-white Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas — was named the individual awardee. Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. was the winner in the corporate category. And Munger, Tolles & Olson LLP was named the law firm honoree. The private luncheon was held Sept. 6. A formal award ceremony will take place at the Western Justice Center's Silver Anniversary Gala at the California Club on Oct. 5. — Caitlin Johnson
