Judge Balks at Flip-Flop Murder Evidence
SAN FRANCISCO - A Fresno federal judge has overturned a 1983 death sentence after finding serious misconduct by the prosecutor in the case. U.S. District Court Judge Anthony Ishii concluded that a Kern County prosecutor used unreliable jailhouse informants to help convict Constantino Carrera of robbing and murdering a married couple who managed a Mojave motel.
