The long-rumored transition of power at Townsend and Townsend and Crew became official Tuesday, when the firm announced litigator Maureen A. Sheehy will serve as chair for a three-year term.
Sheehy replaces James G. Gilliland Jr., who became chair in 2001 after revamping the firm's management structure and creating the position.
