LOS ANGELES - Latham & Watkins finally is getting serious about its Tokyo outpost. The Los Angeles-based firm, California's biggest, expects to announce this week a joint venture with a Japanese law practice. The venture, Latham & Watkins Registered Association with Kyobashi International Law Office, is a formal, government-sanctioned U.S.-Japanese firm alliance.
