Ex-Candidate Joins Mayer Brown in Palo Alto

SAN FRANCISCO - Patrick Shannon, an attorney who in 1996 ran as a Republican against incumbent Democratic Sen. Byron Sher to represent the South Bay in the state Senate, has joined Mayer, Brown & Platt's Palo Alto office, the Chicago-based firm announced Thursday.
