Toyota appoints first African-American managing officer

Christopher P. Reynolds has been promoted to the newly created positions of company-wide general counsel and chief legal officer at Toyota Motor Corp. Reynolds will be the first African-American managing officer at the company.

Toyota Motor Corp. announced Wednesday the promotion of Christopher P. Reynolds to the newly created positions of companywide general counsel and chief legal officer, effective April 1. Reynolds has held senior in-house posts for the automaker's North American operations and sales groups since 2007.


A spokeswoman for Toyota said Reynolds was not available for comment.
