Legal Victory Thwarts More Asbestos Suits

LOS ANGELES - Dow Chemical and its subsidiary, Union Carbide, a former seller of asbestos fibers, are among the supporters of a proposed law to create a $140 billion compensation fund for victims of asbestos, whose links to cancer and other diseases have led to 700,000 claims in the past two decades.
