Rosemary M. Dunbar, 1920-2013

Former Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rosemary M. Dunbar, a civil rights activist, spent more than 20 years handling criminal cases in Compton. She died in September of natural causes at 93.

Former Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Rosemary M. Dunbar, a civil rights activist who led a long legal career at a time when few women entered the profession, died Sept. 18 of natural causes. She was 93.


Dunbar never sought recognition for the work she undertook throughout her life - she just went out there and did it, said her son David Dunbar.
