Man who uploaded film to pay $1.1 million restitution

Defendant must pay $1.12 million to studios as restitution.

LOS ANGELES — A man who uploaded Academy Award-winning film "The Revenant" online before its theater release was ordered to pay $1.12 million in restitution to the Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp. for lost box office revenue.

Prosecutors asked for a year in jail plus the $1.12 million for the single felony count, which carries a three-year prison maximum.
