Financial Fraud Isn't Grounds For Annulment, Panel Decides
LOS ANGELES - Sex is essential to marriage, but money is not, according to a recent appellate-court opinion. A woman cannot annul a marriage to a man who not only fraudulently misrepresented his wealth to her before tying the knot but also deceived her about their joint business venture, the 1st District Court of Appeal has ruled. Meagher v. Maleki , 2005 DJDAR 8615 (Cal. App. 1st. Dist. July 18, 2005).
