Mental Torture: Behavioral Scientists at Gitmo May Cross Line

Forum Column - By Patrick Mattimore - When the news broke that a "torture memo" written by lawyers within the Bush Administration sanctioned "cruel, inhuman or degrading" treatment of prisoners at the U.S. Navy Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, many people were outraged. Justice Department lawyer and Boalt Hall law professor John Yoo, who drafted the memo, was widely pilloried amidst calls for his resignation at the university.
