Sound Wars This year's South by Southwest Music Conference highlighted the collision of artists' rights and commerce when it comes to distribution of creative product. For some artists, like Patti Smith, the issue reared its head when she ordered all cameras off after her third song. But during performances by some other artists, recording was encouraged.
