Santa Clara Comes of Age In Battle Against Elder Abuse

SAN JOSE - Each time the real estate agent stopped by 83-year-old Janis Jepson's house last year, her grandson said she was asleep. Then Santa Clara County prosecutors received a tip that the house was being sold without the elderly woman's knowledge. It sold within hours of going on the market, and her grandson allegedly planned to use the proceeds for his own home purchase.
