State Bar and U.S. courts sanction accused lawyer

A federal court and the State Bar Court took aim last week at lawyer Chance Edward Gordon for allegedly cheating homeowners nationwide in a $9.7 million scheme.

A lawyer accused of cheating underwater homeowners got a double dose of bad news Friday.


The State Bar Court ordered Chance Edward Gordon of Los Angeles put on involuntary inactive status, and a federal judge imposed a preliminary injunction sought by the federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau against Gordon and his mortgage relief business.
