Toyota cleared in bellwether sudden acceleration trial

Jury instead found Olga Bello, a 90-year-old woman who ran a stop sign, broadsided the crash victim and set off the string of incidents that led to her death, liable for $10 million.

LOS ANGELES - After deliberating for five days, jurors Thursday cleared Toyota Motor Corp. of wrongdoing in a $20 million personal injury lawsuit over the death of Upland resident Noriko Uno, whose 2006 Camry sped out of control and slammed into a tree four years ago. The verdict was split 9-3, but only nine votes are needed to decide a civil trial.
