Hundreds attend San Bernardino bar banquet
The San Bernardino County Bar Association held its annual installation and awards banquet Oct. 3 at the National Orange Show in San Bernardino. Hundreds from the local legal community gathered to witness the installation of the 2013-2014 board of directors. Several awards were presented, including the prestigious John B. Surr Award, which went to William D. Shapiro, a San Bernardino partner with Robinson, Calcagnie, Robinson, Shapiro, Davis Inc. The Surr Award honors attorneys exhibiting the highest standards of the legal profession and the administration of justice. The bar association also presented Richard G. Simon with the Kearney-Nydam-Shouse Award, which recognizes attorneys dedicated to community service. It was recently renamed to honor the late Roberta Shouse, who served as executive director of the Legal Aid Society in San Bernardino. She worked much of her life with the society, which provides legal services to low-income people. — Katie Lucia
