Timothy Atkins recently was freed after serving 20 years in prison for a murder he didn't commit. Who's responsible for the injustice? It depends on whom you ask.

Even after the key witness testified that she had lied under pressure by police, the Los Angeles County district attorney's office insisted that it had prosecuted the right man. Offered an opportunity to retry the case and impeach the witness whose recantation it disbelieves, though, the prosecution declined.
