Officer-Involved Shooting Suit Settles for $3.3M

The Los Angeles City Council has voted unanimously to settle an officer-involved shooting lawsuit for nearly $3.3 million. The $3.25 million settlement approved Tuesday resolves a complaint filed in 1995 by Larry Friedman, who contended in his federal court lawsuit that on Oct. 8, 1994, he was shot by officers who should have known he was developmentally disabled, unarmed and posed no immediate threat to them. Friedman v. City of Los Angeles , 95-6183 KN (SHx).
