On Stand, Scientist Admits to Secretly Cloning Growth Hormone
SAN FRANCISCO - A world-renowned DNA scientist who is the pivotal witness for the University of California in its patent infringement case against Genentech admitted Tuesday he secretly took cloned DNA growth hormone from the school's lab in 1978 and shared it with a Genentech scientist, who developed the company's version of human growth hormone.
