DA Cooley Says He Won't Seek a Fourth Term - Unless He Changes His Mind

Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley said he likely won't seek a fourth term unless an unsuitable candidate seeks to replace him.

LOS ANGELES - Speaking to reporters for the first time since his narrow loss to Kamala Harris in the attorney general race, Steve Cooley said he's not likely to seek a record fourth term as Los Angeles County district attorney.


Cooley, whose term expires in 2012, said "the best alternative" would be for a career prosecutor to succeed him.
