Medi-Cal Moves Further Toward Managed Care

On Nov. 2, 2010, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved California's Medi-Cal waiver bills, SB208 (Steinberg) and AB342 (Pérez), which had been passed last month as part of the state budget. The passage of this Medi-Cal waiver followed more than a year of negotiations with CMS, and entitles California to an additional $2 billion a year in federal Medicaid support over the next five years.
