Forum Column - By Ira L. Shafiroff - On Sept. 19, Gov. Gray Davis signed into law AB205, the "California Domestic Partner Rights and Responsibilities Act of 2003." The act gives gay couples rights and duties enjoyed by married couples. While individuals may debate the virtues of the legislation, the act clearly is unconstitutional and remarkably unclear and confusing.
