Tragic State

Daar By commandeering Terri Schiavo from the throes of death back into the twilight of a persistent vegetative state, the Florida Legislature and the state's governor have reinvigorated the debate over the right to die. Discussion of Schiavo's fate has been hijacked from her bedside, where doctors and family members anguish over the fate of a gravely ill patient, to the political arena, where ambition and pandering often shape outcomes.
