Lying Judge Should Stay, Lawyers Say

SAN FRANCISCO - Los Angeles Judge Patrick Couwenberg, facing removal from the bench, suffers from a mental condition that caused him to lie compulsively about his military and educational background, his lawyers said Monday. But, they argued, that he should be allowed to get treatment for the disorder and continue to serve as a judge.
