Malibu is expected to pull out all the stops to celebrate the life of John J. Merrick, a devoted resident, historian and for more than two decades its only judge.
Merrick, whose wild shock of thick black eyebrows was often sufficient to keep his own and other Malibu youngsters on the straight and narrow, died July 31, said Shelley Merrick, the oldest of his eight children. He was 93.
