Jury awards former deputy DA, wife in accident case

A San Bernardino Count jury Thursday awarded former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney David Evans and his wife, also a former prosecutor, $31.5 million for debilitating injuries he suffered in a 2009 accident.

A San Bernardino County jury Thursday awarded former Los Angeles County deputy district attorney David Evans and his wife, Meredith, also a former Los Angeles prosecutor, $31.5 million for debilitating injuries he suffered in a 2009 motorcycle accident on State Route 138 near Lancaster. The jury ordered Caltrans to pay 15 percent of the verdict and the driver of the vehicle that hit Evans to pay 85 percent of the judgment. J...
