Tough-Guy Judge

SAN FRANCISCO - Judge John J. Conway, robed and ready for court, strikes a pugilist's pose in his San Francisco chambers. He was demonstrating for a reporter a proud moment in his career as a man of action. Robe billowing, the former Marine mimed a right uppercut, like the punch he used to down a mugger at a South of Market ATM.
