Gun Group Triggers New Legislation

WASHINGTON - It has been a good month for the National Rifle Association. A House panel adopted a legislative provision the association wrote that would limit some Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms powers; a bill to block liability suits against gun makers is nearing filibuster-proof support in the Senate; a powerful senator wants to end the ban on guns in the District of Columbia and a very liberal judge in Brooklyn just tossed out a suit against the handgun industry.
