California's giant retirement system has hired DLA Piper partner Matthew G. Jacobs as its new general counsel. He replaces Peter Mixon, who retired last October.
The California Public Employees' Retirement System, or CalPERS, is the world's biggest public pension fund with assets of more than $291 billion.
